SLOW DOWN. MAKE A SENTENCE.

A virtual typewriter.
Room for a little story.

Striking typebars. A moving ribbon. Words on paper. Turn a blank page into a small piece of writing with Keymere’s mechanical typewriter simulator.

WATCH THE WORDS ARRIVE

The key. The strike.
The mark on paper.

The Typewriter is one of Keymere’s four keyboard games. It combines a virtual mechanical machine with animated typebars, a ribbon and paper, plus dedicated typewriter recordings.

Use the keyboard to write a sentence and watch the mechanism respond. This is a visual writing experience, rather than a WPM examination or a full word processor. It is useful when your goal is finishing a thought without watching a speed score.

Fullscreen gives the machine more room. The surrounding interface follows your Light, Dark or System preference.

A SMALL WRITING PROMPT

Begin with a detail you noticed today.

Write three sentences: where you were, one sound you heard, and what happened next. Then read the paragraph back. You do not need a clever opening or a perfect first draft.

A SMALL MOMENT

The window was open.
Somewhere outside, a bicycle bell rang.
I stopped typing and listened.

Example text · your story starts in the Typewriter

For a parent-led session, a child might describe a favourite object or invent a character. Adults can try a journal note, a first line or a short letter. Choose a manageable task and let the writing set the pace.

KEEP WHAT YOU WRITE

Local drafts.
Text you can take away.

Drafts can stay locally on your device, and text export lets you keep your work outside the simulator. Export writing you want to retain before clearing browser data or switching devices.

Local drafts are not a shared cloud document. Moving from the browser to the Windows app does not automatically sync your text or imported sound library.

For desktop keyboard feedback while using other applications, use Keymere’s Windows sound features. The browser Typewriter responds inside its own page.

Creative writing is one way to practise.

The website offers three free Typewriter sessions, each lasting three minutes. A $19.99 USD one-time lifetime license includes the Windows app for up to three active PCs and linked paid online features.

If you want a measured speed test, switch to the Typing Test. Choose Keyfall to locate letters or Wordfall to solve a jumbled word with a sentence clue. Each activity has a different purpose; writing a story is not scored like copying a test passage.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you begin.

Can I use the typewriter in fullscreen?

Yes. Open the Typewriter in Games and use its fullscreen control.

Is my writing automatically synced across devices?

No. Drafts are local. Export text you want to keep and move it yourself if you change devices.

Does it measure typing speed?

The Typewriter is for writing. Use the separate Typing Test for WPM, CPM and accuracy results.
